Betsy Payne Cook paints exclusively with pastels, and is honored to be a Signature member of Central Mass Pastel Society, Connecticut Pastel Society, and Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod. She is also a juried Master Artist at the Cape Cod Art Center and member of Pastel Society of America.

Betsy began painting in pastels when she returned to the United States after living in Wales, UK for nine years. Her connection with art began earlier in her life, leading to a Bachelors in Art Education and a Masters in Special Education.  After retiring from a career in education, she was able to dedicate her time to the medium of pastels.  Finding inspiration in the relationship between humans and the land and sea was heightened when she discovered plein air painting. Outfitted with pastels, Betsy also paints on location locally and when traveling.

Betsy continues to satisfy her passion for teaching with a regular schedule of pastel and plein air classes and workshops. She is also an art mentor for the Art Works program, a MassHire initiative for high school students that are considering a creative future through college or for personal growth.
